Covid-19 Positive Jamaat Attendee Escapes From Hospital, Caught 3 Km Away

Tablighi Jamaat attendees aren’t only spitting on doctors and defecating outside their rooms — they’re also trying to run away from the hospitals where they are in quarantine.

Today morning, a corona positive Tablighi Jamaat attendee escaped from the hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district, IANS reported. The patient, Safid Miyan, had attended the Tablighi Jamaat meeting in Delhi last month. He had tested corona positive on Friday, and was being held in isolation in the hospital. The 65-year-old escaped from the hospital after breaking the glass pane and cutting the wire mesh on the window. He then used his clothes to form a rope and scale down the building.

When the news of his escape broke, ten police teams were formed to locate him. Superintendent of Police, Baghpat had also issued an appeal with a photograph of Safid Miyan, asking people to inform the police if he was seen anywhere. Safid Miyan was a part of a group of 17 from Nepal, who had attended the Delhi Tablighi Jamaat gathering.

Within hours of his daring escape, Safid Miyan was caught at a brick kiln 3 kms away from the hospital. Inspector General Praveen Kumar confirmed the arrest of the corona patient.

The police are now trying to track the people who were in contact with the corona-positive patient after he had escaped from the hospital.
