IAS Toppers Tina Dabi And Ather Aamir Khan File For Divorce, Two Years After Leftists Had Described The Wedding As “What India Is All About”

A marriage that left-liberals had described as “what India is all about” has just ended in divorce.

IAS toppers Tina Dabi and Ather Aamir Khan have filed for divorce in a Jaipur family court. The duo have mutually agreed to separate, just two years after they’d been married in a ceremony that had even drawn comment from Rahul Gandhi, who’d called the marriage an “inspiration for all Indians.”

Some interest in the marrige was natural — Tina Dabi had topped the 2015 UPSC exam, and Athar Aamir Khan had stood second. But what prominent left liberals had latched on to was the interfaith nature of the couple. “Congratulations Tina Dabi & Athar Amir-ul-Shafi, IAS toppers, batch of 2015, on your wedding! May your love grow from strength to strength and may you be an inspiration to all Indians in this age of growing intolerance and communal hatred. God bless you,” then Congress President Rahul Gandhi had tweeted.

Barkha Dutt had even gone on to say that the wedding “gave her hope.” “Tina & Athar- you give us hope- your individual achievements & your love for each other reminds us of what India is all about @dabi_tina & @AtharAamirKhan God Bless you both,” she’d tweeted.

Prashant Bhushan had called the marriage a bright story in dark times. “A bright story in dark times.3 cheers for Dalit IAS topper Tina Dabi & 2nd ranked Kashmiri Muslim Athar Khan defying Saffron gangs & tying knot,” he’d tweeted.

But earlier this year, alert social media users had discovered that not all was well in paradise. In March, Tina Dabi had dropped Khan from her name on Twitter, and had also removed her description as a “Kashmiri bahu.” Around the same time, Ather Aamir Khan had also unfollowed her on Instagram. With the couple now officially filing for divorce, one wonders how far-left propagandists will react to their “idea of India” cruelly coming to an end after two short years.
