Even as the far-left continues its propaganda against Diwali crackers, the impact is being felt in far-flung villages.
A woman in Jhura village in Uttar Pradesh has lost her life after being attacked over a dispute about bursting crackers. As per an Amar Ujala report, Meena Devi’s son Karan, along with two friends, was bursting crackers outside his house on Tuesday night. Opposite the house was the shop of one Rashid, son of Lal Mohammad. When Rashid saw the boys bursting crackers, he beat them up.

As the boys cried for help, Meena Devi went to the boys’ aid. Rashid then proceeded to kick and punch Meena Devi, and strangled her. She then fell unconscious, and dropped to the ground. Villagers then started congregating at the scene, and took Meena Devi to the local hospital. Meena Devi, 45, was declared dead at the hospital.
The local police station in-charge Vinay Kumar Sharma said that the incident took place over bursting firecrackers. The woman died due to severe injuries sustained due to the beating.
Rashid fled the scene after the attack, and is currently absconding. The police has registered a case, and is trying to nab the accused. Meena Devi’s body has been returned to her family after a post mortem.
