AAP Leader Tahir Hussain, who had been absconding since a video of him leading mobs on the roof of his house had gone viral, will soon be in police custody.
AAP leader Tahir Hussain is about to surrender before the Rose Avenue court in Delhi, Republic reports. Hussain has several FIRs registered against him including a case for the murder of Ankit Sharma, the IB official who had been brutally stabbed 400 times before his body was dumped into a neighbourhood sewer.
Tahir Hussain, who is an elected Councillor for the Aam Aadmi Party, was seen moving around on his roof of his home during the Delhi riots. On the roof were scores of people, who were seen flinging stones and petrol bombs at the crowd on the street.
The day after the incident, news channels had visited his now-deserted house, and had found stones and petrol bombs stored on the roof. They had also found slingshots attached to the roof’s walls, which were used to fire petrol bombs into the neighbourhood.
Several eyewitnesses had accused Tahir Hussain of carrying out violence in the area. The mother of Ankit Sharma, the IB Officer who was murdered, had alleged that Tahir Hussain’s men had taken away her son into his home. Many of his neighbours had made similar claims. Tahir Hussain has 4 FIRs registered against him for his role in the Delhi riots.
