The Indian National Congress has been toeing the Pakistan line for a while now, but their relationship now seems to be graduated to Step 2 — passing photos between each other.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today sheared a set of pictures which purported to show the plight of UP’s farmers. “Listen to the pain of these farmers,” Vadra tweeted. “Heavy rain and hail have destroyed the crops of UP’s farmers. Some farmers have seen 80 percent of their crops be lost,” she continued. “The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, instead of making promises, should reimburse UP’s farmers,” she thundered.
It was an evocative appeal, complete with pictures of farmers in varying degrees of distress, but there was a problem — the picture she’d used was from Pakistan.
One of the pictures tweeted by Priyanka Vadra had been shared by a page called “Shudada of Pakistan Army” on 17th April last year. “Please pray for (our) farmers,” the page had said.
It was thus clear that Priyanka Vadra, in her attempt to attack the Yogi government, ended up using pictures of Pakistani farmers. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the other pictures weren’t from Uttar Pradesh either.
The second image that Priyanka Vadra had shared, which showed hailstones lying on a field, was from Congress-ruled Rajasthan. The image was from Herra village in Jhalwar district in Rajasthan, and it had been published in an article in Dainik Bhaskar on 1st March, 2020.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been, for the last year, working in Uttar Pradesh in an attempt to lay the groundwork for the Assembly Elections which are scheduled to be held in 2022. But it speaks volumes about her connect with common UP citizens that she was unable to find 4 pictures of farmers in UP who’d supposedly suffered from the unseasonal rains in the state. It also speaks volumes about her social media team, which couldn’t verify where the pictures were from before sharing them with her 1.4 million followers. But that’s what you get when you promote dynasts at the cost of merit — you get the surname, but you can’t always guarantee competency.
Update: Priyanka Vadra has now deleted the tweet after getting roundly mocked by netizens.
This so called gandi family will never be able to convince people of India. The brother is a dumb batoon and the sister is a shade number than him. If they really want to do something they should ensure that they really do good and not pass on pictures which she wouldn’t even recognize the next time she sees it. What genes do you expect these siblings to posses from a bar dancer’s progeny. Nothing bur nonsense.
